Nintendo is a company which produces video game hardware and software and one of the best known designers and developers of video games and consoles.

It was founded in Japan as early as in 1889 and initially was engaged in making Japanese playing cards before moving along to video games in the mid seventies. It became a dominant player in the video game industry in the eighties and nineties and is credited with creating a revolution in the industry with titles like Donkey Kong, Super Mario Bros. and The Legend of Zelda. The company which later entered US markets became instrumental in reviving the American’s interest in home video games after the crash in the industry due to over saturation of titles.

It was Nintendo which designed and distributed the Nintendo Entertainment system, the Game Boy, the Wii, the Nintendo DS and so many other variants. The Nintendo game called The Wii is the hottest selling game console worldwide with sales topping fifty million consoles and it has held pride of place for the last three years.

The company faces stiff competition from Microsoft and Sony and in fact lost the title of best selling console in September before regaining it in October.

Nintendo games were first introduced in India in 1987 by Samurai India and the worldwide phenomenon, the Wii was brought to Indian markets in 2008.

The casual gamer is the target customer and the game is being promoted as a family game and not confined to teenagers.
Innovation is the watchword for the company and its flagship brands are all in short supply due to its unprecedented demand thanks to ever changing motion sensing technology and low prices.

Nintendo games are here to stay and the company is dedicated to the long term consolidation of its preeminent position and it is devoting its resources towards a single minded goal of creating the most innovative and interactive entertainment products the world has seen. It is popular game equally among the young and the old of late. It is one gaming console its crazy users love to carry, one cannot blame them as it is so very handy and easy to pocket. It also has its disadvantages that it is hard to get the users to listen when they are at it, so at times it can be very irritating not to the user but the person who is seeking attention.

Its one gift children would love to have, but make sure they don’t spend all their time with it. When you get one for your child make sure you will be able to distribute his or her time so as not to interfere with the lessons and other routine chores. Providing a gaming console is one interesting way to keep children busy and doing so will not actually make them dump as their mind will be kept intelligently alive. Like any game your child is exposed to the Nintendo games also has its up and downside if not handled properly.
