We all want the best for our pets, especially for our canine best friends. This is why we try to give them everything we can from the healthiest dog food to the most comfortable place to live in. Although sharing our own homes with them is okay, having an outdoor dog house is most recommended for a number of good reasons.

Dogs are man's best friend. Since a best friend is someone really special, it is just right to give our dog the best treatment possible. We feed it the way we feed ourselves with the right amount and kind of food. We give it ample time for play and other activities. We give it a home more than just a house.

However, it is just not possible to have our dog within our own home always. There are different instances when keeping them in their own home is much better for their own good as well as ours. This is enough reason why having a dog kennel around is a must for every dog owner.

One of the most common reasons about having a home for the dog is when a baby is on its way to the family. Babies are generally highly sensitive to allergens and substances in the air around them. A dog's hair is harmless, but it can cause much discomfort to a baby. Prevention is always better than cure, so transferring the dog to its own home is a necessity in times like this.

An outdoor dog house is basically a small shed that is shaped like a little house. It can come in various designs the same way that a house can be designed structurally. Its main purpose is to serve as a dog's place to sleep and stay in especially during bad weather.

Most dog houses are either made of wood, plastic or steel wire. The common wood dog houses are mostly made by the dog's owner himself while the ones made of plastic and steel wire are those that are available commercially.

All of these three offer the necessary protection dogs need. However, each one comes with a set of advantages and disadvantages. It is up to the dog owner to decide on which one answers the needs at hand. Plastic dog kennels are cheaper than steel wire ones, but the latter are more durable. However, one should take time to keep them rust proof always.

A major consideration in buying a doghouse is the size. To make sure that the pet fits safely and comfortable inside its new home, the house's roof height should be 25 to 50 percent taller than the dog itself. Its door height should be at least 3/4 of the dog's shoulder height, and the overall dimension inside the dog house should not get beyond 25 percent longer than the dog in both directions.

Accessorizing the outdoor dog house is important for both functional and aesthetic reasons. One can add warming mats inside to make sure that one's pet is in safe and good condition all the time.
